Fight School - Exciting new Sky One show to be filmed in China
Sky One have commissioned Granada Entertainment to produce a brand new action packed series, Fight School, for transmission later in the year. This 8 x 60” commission promises to bring the ultimate in martial arts fighting contests, to the UK.
Filmed entirely on location, Fight School will take ten British fighters to China where they will try to beat each other in mental and physical combat - for the honour of being crowned the Ultimate Fight School Champion.
Filming in July, the ten amateur enthusiasts – recruited from the nation’s 2,000-plus martial arts clubs and associations – will fight each other daily, facing a punishing schedule of challenges, each designed to stretch the Fight School ‘pupils’ to near breaking point.
The series, which will capture all the drama using cinematic techniques drawn straight from the altar of Bruce Lee and Jackie Chan.
Kate Marsh, Sky TV’s Deputy Director of Broadcast and Production, who commissioned the series said: 'Fight School is an exciting project which promises both gripping entertainment and stunning visual sequences in breathtaking surroundings. This commission re-iterates Sky One’s determination to deliver high quality original programming to its core audience.'
Granada’s Controller of Entertainment Duncan Gray said: 'This is a real passion project for us. It has taken 18 months working with the Sky commissioning team to get this project where it is, and it proves that Granada Entertainment can work with every UK broadcaster to develop bespoke shows.'
