By unanimous vote of the ISKA European Executive Council, Juan Pinilla is removed as national director for Spain.
ISKA Great Britain Director and European Executive Council member Paul Hennessey said, “Mr. Juan Pinilla gave me no choice but to vote in favor of his dismissal from the ISKA. His behavior regarding last weeks’ world championships brought himself, ISKA Spain and ISKA Europe into disrepute.
Mr. Pinilla entered into a written agreement with ISKA Europe, and then failed to honor the agreement. He tried to exhort money from National teams who chose not to use his travel agent. He deliberately delayed the tournament and medal ceremony in the vain effort to levy a tax on those who arranged their hotel accommodations independently. He showed no care or respect for the hundreds of Amateur competitors who supported the Championships, and that is unforgiveable.”
ISKA Turkey Director and European Executive Council member Davut Sidal added, “To force our athletes to book hotel accommodations through the promoter’s travel agent at a higher rate than they can arrange on their own simply to increase the promoter’s profit is not the way the ISKA operates.”
ISKA President Cory Schafer expressed “I am very grateful to the many ISKA National Directors who stepped in to administrate the tournament in view of the promoter’s poor preparation and execution. We are all very proud of the athletes who traveled from around the world, competing with the very best spirit, determination and sportsmanship. We are thankful to the beautiful city of Alicante, Spain, and will look back on this event by remembering the passion and desire demonstrated by world class amateur athletes and the honor that they have earned.”
